Clinical information to support coming in for teeth cleaning and examination
The current pandemic environment has created various issues in all of our lives. An issue I have noticed in my practice is, patients delaying hygiene appointments. For those who require regular maintenance, delays cause additional calculus buildup in the mouth which become sites for bacterial attachment and growth. The additional colonies of bacteria not only create inflammation of the gums but are inhaled into the lungs, which can then lead to inflammation of the lungs. Since some strains of Coronavirus can affect the lungs, one does not want inflammation already present in the case of a viral infection. Please do not delay your dental cleaning appointments.
In our practice, Infection control has always been a top priority. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.
Sincerely,
Gordon E Haag, Jr. DDS
